FAVORITES

A collection of favorites. When asked my style of photography, as I shoot across multiple genres. my answer is simple: I focus on capturing beauty. I feel in our daily grind we tend to forget how beautiful our planet is and I want my images to remind you of it!

Edit wise I don’t recreate what wasn’t there but I do boost colours, contrast and vibrancy!

“This modern day hunter gather has replaced spear with lens. Instead of painting cave walls, I photograph life moments!”

HUMAN PLANET

There is no creature more fascinating, adaptive or destructive than human beings!

Forever evolving, my greatest fear for humanity is conformity; losing of our cultures, customs and traditions. So much conflict arises from these differences and yet it is these same differences that make us so uniquely human.

I chase moments, freezing snapshots of life in a sensor canvas.

WILD CREATURES

Fierce, placid, wild, never predictable. Nothing like the chase, this modern day hunter has replaced spear for a lens.

The unknown image, what awaits behind 20 frames a second. The challenge, the elation, the disappointment, wildlife photography is my eternal flame.

I started exclusively as a wildlife photographer 15 years later the hunger still burns just as bright…

BIRDS

What a dream it would be to spread your wings and fly. Birds have always fascinated us; why else would we cage such freedom? In 2020 we all got a taste of what a cage feels like…

Having worked as a Safari Guide for many years, I’m no stranger to birding but dedicating myself to the art of bird photography has been eye opening. It is one of the most challenging forms of photography, as your subject is hard to find, moves quickly, and just one wrong move on your part and it flies away!

FLOWERS & LITTLE CREATURES

Down on your belly lays a thriving underworld, a microcosm best photographed in macro.

It’s not easy to photograph this world in life size, some photographers, capture and pose their subjects, I do not, I capture moments,  freezing life as it unfolds.

Flower photographers’ seek out ‘flower models’ in the same way portrait photographers seek out human models. But unblemished is not the only criteria, character, chips, dents and flaws and are powerful attractants too.

Earth

Mother Nature, Father Time; their love child Planet Earth.

Impossibly beautiful, diverse beyond imagination but its a world under threat. I applaud initatives like the EarthShot prize which seeks to find and grow solutions that will repair our planet in this decade.

They believe in the power of human ingenuity to prove to us all that the seemingly impossible is possible. And that is a cause worh believing in!

OCEAN & WATER

Tranquil, striking, tumultuous, ever changing, moody, dark, silky, smooth, beautiful…

I sometimes wonder if water is female with her soft touch, silky lines and how all life is created in it.

Travel Portraits

The face is no wall, even without words, it speaks.

The eyes are windows to the soul, to get this close you need rapport, trust, a connection.

Every person I photographed is a stranger, the camera forging the space between us even, like here, transcending language.

The irony of being an introvert and photographing strangers is not lost on me…

CITIES & STRUCTURE

Ugly, beautiful, dangerous, home to most. Cities build for function, structures created for art.

Skylines forever changing to new lines, as we progress, regress, add and subtract, divide and conquer.

I am a seeker of twilight and golden light, that function like make-up to overlay beauty.

I delve into the Monochromatic to focus the eye on shapes, shadows, lines and contrast.
